Hey there, I'm planning a backpack for a few days within Guadalupe Mtn National Park. Looks like there's lots of trees in the high back country areas along the McKittrick Ridge. Has anyone ever taken their hammock into this park and have advice on the best overnight areas to stay in the back country? I know that I need to get permits when I check in, but I'm hoping to plan out my trails ahead of time and would be interested in those with previous knowledge in case they need me to reserve a campsite area and leave a hiking plan before I head out.

I'm sure I'll do a couple of day hikes and then plan a loop that takes 2-3 days, perhaps linking to the Bush Mtn trail. Its a matter of how much water I can comfortably carry on a strenuous hike.

Any advice or experience in the park would be welcome. I want to use my hammock if its possible.
