Hi!
Just wanted to chime in. I'm a 35 yr old designer from Stavanger, Norway. I just got my HH Explorer Deluxe Zip wich I'm hoping to use hiking and kayaking. I'm currently looking into all the various UQ and UC setups out there as the climate up here calls for one or the other the year around.
I've allready made a simple modified UC based on the KAQ pattern. The plan is to test this a bit and then try to make a sort of UQ/UC combination using the heat reflective and waterproof Jerven Fabric combined with Jerven's Primaloft insulation material. I allready have a Jerven bag (the Hunter Thermo) wich I'm super happy with, but would love a Jerven UQ. If any of you guys have tried it allready let me know! The stuff really is as good as they so arrogantly claim (in norwegian what they say in the brochure is ment very ironic and funny, but the poor translation into english comes across somewhat arrogant, lol)
Don't know Jerven? It is a shelter/tent/bivy/poncho system with some extreme temperature qualities - used by the NATO forces as well as survivalists/hikers/hunters up north. And yes, they also sell the magic by the metre
Check the english brochure out here
And their regular site (albeit in norwegian) here
Happy hangin'
Lasse
