Playing with the descender ring thought. It holds like a mutha. Very impressed but I'm interested to see how you guys find it be readily adjustable. With the wraps I find it very fiddly to move the ring up and down the line.

hmmm. . . been thinking about the Knotty Not, mostly cause I like the Idea of a UL SRS solution. What about tying a light weight piece of string in the crooks to 'close' the loop on the Knotty Not. Takes away the ability to make massive wholesale adjustments, but I think greatly reduces the risk of loss while still keeping 99.9% of the weight advantage. What do you think?
Also, thinking about the possible UCR application of this method and I must admit, I can't see it. While you could 'theoretically' use only a bit over 6' of line for a 6' adjustable line, if I understand the concept right, that would remove the ease of adjustability from the setup. Since you'd have to retie it every time to change the placement of the Knotty Not or Descender Ring. Seems to me you may as well use knots in the first place. Am I thinking about this wrong?

One of these perhaps?

The first one allows for quicker adjustment to the hardware's location.
Number one. Exactly right.
Easy to unwrap and then move it along the line for large scale adjustments, yet you can't lose it.

The second one with the wraps between the two eyes would be more difficult to move for large adjustments, the same as it is with the ring.

Now that I see it, your right, very nice indeed.
Just pass the tail end of your suspension through the eye. Tie a stopper knot in the end to keep it from falling off. Then its just the one short piece of metal hanging from the end, hang your hammock, pull the line tight and wrap the "Knotty Not" to secure. Instant UCR with the ease of adjustment of the SRS. That sir, is genius.
How did you bend that piece of tent stake? I think I have a few extra's lying around I can use. Also, what is the Diameter of that stake? Looks to be maybe 1/8"?
