Near Chesterfield, MA. Nighthauk and I have plans to check out the one of the two sites we have chosen. We have already had a winter hang at the first site, but we want to choose the better of the two for the number of people who plan on attending. Once we get it checked out, we will post pics and our recommendation/selection. Stay tuned, same Hammock Time, same Hammock Channel....
i'm not into goat.

In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer. [Albert Camus]
Goat should not be discounted. It is very good actually; except Billy goat meat that would be an acquired taste. There are many fantastic Greek recipes that you can whip up in the wild easily. Not as gamy tasting as lamb, which is not really that gamy IMHO.
But if it is goat or lobster, pass me the bugs.
If it moves, you can eat it. No promises you will think it tastes good.
Just found this thread!
Sounds great!
I am a total newbie also. Have been collecting bits and pieces for the "ultimate" hang. So far I have en ENO DN, and material to make a tarp. Amsteel for suspension, carabiners, rings, straps etc. Still have not hung yet. Too busy collecting pieces and changing my mind about suspensions etc. Probably won't need to decide about how to make a bug net for this hang though
Have some tablecloths to make my own hammock since reading here that longer hammocks are more comfortable. Gosh that DN is short!
I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I have a down sleeping bag for a top quilt, and will get another sleeping bag for UQ, or maybe use the down for the UQ. So many ways to do things.
Have been working on a single post hang, but since the ground will probably be frozen, stakes will be a problem, so I just may build one of those turtledog stands. Car camping makes them realistic for me. I had been working toward touring on my Yamaha Majesty and being able to set up anywhere. Hadn't thought about winter hanging but it sounds like fun! I have gone tent camping in Maine in the snow so I am looking forward to this adventure. Sign me up, for now, and I will let you know if things change.
