Has anybody hiked the Foothills Trail? I'm looking for a 75 mile hike for a group of about 8 this summer. Most of us hang, but one or two might be in a tent.

Jeff did it back in 05. Trip report here.

I've hiked it a couple of times, the last time was in 2004. I hiked the route from Oconee SP to Table Rock SP both times. It is a great hike with lots of camping opportunities with hammocks or tents. It was what I considered 'fast trail' at the time I hiked them in that it didn't have a lot of up and downs each day. You usually had one good tug or so each day, not like much of the AT in Georgia where it is one climb after another and wear you down if you aren't conditioned for lots of elevation changes. Most people make pretty good mileage on FT thru hikes.

I had plans to thru hike the FHT last year and it just didn't work out. Maybe this year....
“Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it." -Terry Pratchett
I hiked it in Nov. 07 going from Table Rock to Oconee, and plan to do it again this March.
It's a really nice hike, and the Chattooga section is definitely 'fast trail', as Youngblood says. I'm not so sure about the Table Rock to Laurel Fork Falls section, though.
