Tarp Help

Im hooked, no more ground pounding for me... This was my first winter camping in a hammock. I started out with the Enos double nest as my first hammock with the pro tarp. Very nice set up that I have added to over the winter. Whoopie slings then an underquilt and now im ready to add another hammock to the gear closet.
Im 6'3 250+ and I think im going with the WBBB 1.7 for a little more room than my current setup. Love the footbox and accessory shelf.
I have two questions...

1) Will my Hammockgear Incubator fit under the WBBB same as the Eno DN? Im sure it will but just asking.

2) Which tarp, the Asym Diamond or the Edge tarp? Im using the WBBB for summer kayak camping in Central Florida. We have daily thunderstorms here during the summer and need a tarp that is lightweight, sturdy when its windy and something that will protect the hammock from blowing rain? My gut says go with the Edge due to it being more square so I can "hunker" the side down more vertical if it gets bad.
What do yall think? Am I on the right track?
First mod to the hammock will be whoopie slings.

1. Incubator will work great I'm my experience.

2. I don't own either of these tarps but I would suggest as much coverage as possible! I use a 11x10 and love the coverage for storms and porch mode.

Can't speak for those tarps but the BMJ tarp works for me.

I'm going the opposite direction on my next tarp.
I'll be looking for an a-sym diamond but in cuben.
When I look back at the majority of my solo hikes I'm usually on the trail from sunup to almost sunset...no time for porch mode, get in sleep, wake up hike.
I've also got in mind a hammock sock that will almost replace the need for a tarp but a little tarp to provide some coverage for getting in and out of the sock and to cook under.

Incubator on a BB, sure it works great but takes some dialing to get it right! I do a little asym stretch on the corners to eliminate that air pocket that forms on the side opposite your feet. Simple solution is to put add some soft shackle prusiks to the corner tabs of your quilt to allow you to position the quilt on the shock cord suspension. I also register my suspension at the head end with a fixed loop around the gathered end and let the foot end float. These long quilts can get saggy in the middle, especially the 0* versions, usually you hear guys running a shock cord over the ridgeline to support the middle of the quilt (grosgain tabs there too). I've never needed to do this.

If I lived in Fl, I'd probably go with a partial length, I only use my Incubator for the deep cold stuff.

I have a winter incubator that works very well with the WBBB. If you are going to be in the rain, I would consider the edge. I have the asym-diamond, and love it for summer hiking in California because rain is rare, and it is usually an afternoon thunderstorm in the Sierra. For East Coast type year round rain, I would want a little more real estate in which to be dry.

Considering that you're kayak camping, my recommendation would be to go with the larger tarp. It'll pay off in those 3 PM thunderstorms during the summer, for certain, and weight is less of an issue when you have the 'yak to carry it. Volume, on the other hand, might be an issue; but, since you've gone to hammocking rather than tenting, that should be reduced as well (no need to carry a groundsheet or poles).

Something else that might be worth considering is carrying a poncho instead of a rain jacket to close off one end of the tarp when it gets really bad, especially as the wind tends to be from one direction with those summer storms. I've done this with a USGI surplus poncho and the Hennessy Hex (a huge tarp to start with, but the principle is the same), and it works a treat.

So, personally, I'd go with the larger tarp. It'll pay off in the long run.

I agree. I use my WB SuperFly year round. Nice sun break when you need it. It'll keep you dry in a down pour while your cooking.

The Incubator is a great choice for the WBBB. I have 2 Incubators & 2 BBs & 2 SFs. I had 2/3 UQs, but I got cold feet.

The only problem I had with the UQs was that sometimes my UQ would slide out due to the footbox. The Incubator has loops sewn in along the edges. I sewed a couple of grossgrain loops along the edge of the BBs to attach the UQ in place.
