So the recommendation for those of us around 190 is to just go for the 1.7 double instead of the 1.1 double?

I sent out a lot of PMs and about 90% recommended the 1.1 double. I even sent an email/PM to Warbonnetguy and he concurred. The consensus is that the 1.1 double is plenty good for us 190ish guys and our gear. I even had a few 200-220 lb guys say that the 1.1 double suits them just fine.
If you're a car camper, canoe camper, and weight isn't an issue for you, then you really don't lose anything by going to the 1.7 double.
If you're a backpacker (like me), then save .5 lbs and get the 1.1 double. From what I take, you won't notice much (if any) difference between the 2.
I'll let you know how mine works out... hopefully within a couple weeks!

Thanks for the info. I'm a kayaker, so weight isn't really an issue, but I like to keep things light in case I do decide to use them for my occasional backpacking trips.
The double is also good at keeping the skeeters from being to bite thru the bottom of the hammock.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.
I am 6ft 2"+ and 270lbs and lots of room in my 1.7 double BB
