Well considering the state of some Sunday gatherings...well I'll just let that one slide. The wall behind Shug's hammock tells stories...colorful ones! I want a close up on some of those trunks.

I put on my FrankenQuilt DIY UQ and slipped in my NEW Hammock Gear Winter Insert/Summer TQ and crawled in. Sweating in moments but I was in my heated studio.
I hope to test this Thursday as it is supposed to be -10º.
Just goofing around with this .... the down does not seem compressed too much. I expected some!!!
I also have my frost bib hanging off of my ridgeline and it just slips around my neck with a big hole in it. Still under R&D..........
    OK then.
Thanks for inspiring some fun for me ya'll!!!!!!!

So the red is the WM bag, and the grey is your Frankenquilt?

There is room in the WM bag for both the quilt and HG summer TQ? Impressive! I wouldn't have thought the WM bag had enough girth for all of that and still close the bag, good to know.

Where is the hood your wearing from, on a bag or a separate hood? Does the WM bag have a hood, and if so what are you doing with it?

Most of all, how is the comfort factor: do you have room inside without feeling straight jacketed? ( that was a problem one person had at the MN cold butt hang)

    Look forward to your test!

very nice setup. I just did a hang up here in Washington and used a 2/3 uq under my feet in combo with a crows nest. I got the idea last year from one of your videos with the frankenquilt, worked great and saves me from buying a full winter under quilt.

Those are my "Agent" clown shoes ...... you saved those for photo ops and when the owners...Mr. Irving Feld and Son... came around.

It is a 20º WM bag ..... Alpinelight I think. It is a wider mummy cut.
That is my DIY Frankenquilt.... 8oz of down in it.

There is ...... it is comfortably snug and warm. I need a night sleeping in it.

Where is the hood your wearing from, on a bag or a separate hood? Does the WM bag have a hood, and if so what are you doing with it?
That hood I took off of an old EMS down parka years ago. It snapped on and off the parka. A nice hood. The WM bag hood is just dangling but it seems to come up on my neck.

Most of all, how is the comfort factor: do you have room inside without feeling straight jacketed? ( that was a problem one person had at the MN cold butt hang)
I feel good in there..... not constricted. Not quite on the usual angle but heck..... I'm warm.

    Look forward to your test!
I am inspired by fourdog and MacEntyre and the podders. It really got my attention what fourdog said in his report. In the past I have always been fine .... but I am open to improvement and trials. Never know 'till you try for yourself.
Plus .... I just needed to use that WN bag ..... a sweet bag!!!!

Mighty clever "speer'mint" my friend ... the Shug looks snug as a bug in a downy rug!

Yeah, I hear ya' Shug. I need to get back to the Gorge again too.
Hopefully, your schedule will work out so you can get some "Rat" time in!

I can definitely see how all that beautiful ripstop & down would be a distraction.
