    How Deep A Burry?

So Thanks to Opie I now have a bunch of Amsteel. I want to make some continuous loops to attach to my WBBB and traveler so I can attach my woopies slings. How deep a bury do I need to make on both sides in order to make the loop hanging safe for my weight. If It matters I weight 200 lb. Thanks guys.

p.s. Edit: I know their is Opie's thred on how to make a continuous loop I just wanted to make sure that the 6 inch bury is safe to hang from or not. Just checking to be safe.

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I make them between 4-5 inches. If you use these instructions they tell you how to make the burry at the end too.

I just larkshead the fixed loop of the whoopie. Is this something that can't be done to the WBBB?

I am taking off the original loops and replacing them with 7/64 amsteel continuous loops. After I make the loops I will larks head them to the WBBB.

I've never seen a WBBB in person. Is there a reason you can't eliminate the loop?

lrr - Why bother with the continuous loops? Maybe something to do with the ridgeline?

Like HamMike noted you can attach the whoopies directly to the WBBB. I do this with my gathered end hammocks, which are similar to Brandon's, and it's still easy to take the whoopies on an off as needed.

I use chainlinks to attach my whoopies with Dutch biners that way I have a drip ring. Also even easier to detach the whoopies.

Now that you mention it I did see a traveler set up this way and the drip ring was the reason for that person too.

6" is fine. Making a continuous loop is essentially a modified end for end splice. Fid measurements for an end for end splice is 3 fids, which comes out to 6.8" in 7/64.

And unless you are using a ring or some other hardware, you can eliminate the loop and attach the sling directly to your BB.
