Cinnamon, did you use a pattern for your bugnet? If so, where can I find it? I'm looking to do the same thing and yours turned out pretty sweet.

If at first you don't succeed...
You're doing it wrong
There is a pattern at www.DIYGearSupply.com
There are many useful patterns there!

no i made my own based on the directions posted here by headchange4u http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=670 see middle of post two Making a top cover pattern, instead of using the tie out points lay in the hammock and have someone mark the points where your shoulder hits and your feet hit. these points will be the apex of a triangle used to determine the shape and size of the netting.
I'm aware this post is a few months old but I would sure appreciate a photo on how those zippers came together at the top of the ridgeline and where you can acquire them.
Thanks...
Check my gallery... I think I have a few pics of mine. I buy my zippers from diy gear supply: http://backwoodsdaydreamer.net

Hello JohnS,
Thanks for the opportunity to browse your gallery, lots of good stuff going on there. I was looking through what seems to be countless threads and still can't seem to find a photo of how the zippers close off at the tube as noted in HeadChange4u's outline of things. I get the asm lay, the ridgeline running through the tube but was looking more towards how the zippers gather towards each other at the end of the tubey thingy. Below is a photo without the tubey yet above the ridgeline. I'm not really trying to remove covers with those type of zippers, coils are fine. I just didn't want to make a mess of this coming together. It also seems like this tube is going to be stressed out if you set in the hammock like a chair.
The DangerBird has something going underneath that end-pocket where nets are stored that I like but have never seen a photo of how it all comes together. In fact, I'm going to use 2 zippers sewn on top of each other, two on each side, making a cover and bugnet and able to use both fully or just either/or.
So far, I was thinking of sewing it like this. Taking a piece of Gross Grain under the tubey back towards the channel end and sewing the zippers upto and down the Gross Grain a bit. No....?
HungLow: the zipper came from diy gear supply, same place john mentioned, i used a #3 coil zipper. finishing off the zipper i just sewed it up to where i had formed a tube by sewing the two edges of the hammock together and then bar taking across the zipper several times to form a stop. hopefully that comes across in the photos. you may want to reinforce the point where the tube ends and starts to open up to form the hammock body. i did not do that and there are signs that it may rip out? i'll see this coming spring and summer when i hopefully get a chance to thoroughly put it through it's paces. (no chance to after i finished it last year as i started 60+ hr weeks working on a airport runway project and had no desire to leave the confines of the a/c after work)
Thanks 4 taking time from your busy schedule Cinnamon and taking the photo's, that's exactly what I was trying to see how that area was run together with zippers.
Although I haven't sewn it up yet, your comment on the tubie stress is what I'm thinking is going to be a problem somewhere along the line for plopping down or even normal for wear. It would be nice to see how the DangerBird's are going to hold up since they are sort of like this. Papa may have figured a way around it to some degree.
Once again, thanks!
Perhaps this thread may help you?

So my zippers are sewn to the hammock body on one side, and a fabric strip on the other. When they reach the gather, I have sewn the gather in a 4" tube. The fabric strip runs past and inside that gather. ( I rolled hem the fabric strip, the zipper end is heat sealed.)
I sew down that hemmed line, and bartack the corner....
