This year I'm rubbing my tickets on NCPatrick and Dutch's head... Untill some hair fals out...

Lets get the date set early... the three day weekend makes sense(21-23 Jan)... Conflict with the SoRuck should be a no brainer...Few if any hangers go to the SoRuck...Those two or three should not dent the better date to thew potential 40-60 or more who want to winter hang.

How many spots available in your heated hammock tent, Mac, and how much will it weigh?

Will you manufacture the Swedish Candles on site to avoid importing pests? I got one of the nice folding buck saws that FourDogs sells, but I don't think the kerf is wide enough for that use. Looks like a chain saw task.

I can't vote on the date yet, but suggest we not conflict with the New Jersey hang.

Count me in! Had a great time last year with the exception of missing out on the whoopie pies. . . won't be hiking back to the car on Sat this time. Trying to convince some hanging buddies to share the ride with me but I am really looking forward to it.

Say it with me . . . "NOT THE WEEKEND OF THE 14th !"

Gonna have to watch NC Patrick a little better, happy with my Dutch Clips and Whoopie Slings I got last year but I'm needing me some of those BIGGER ticket items now.

. . . and Dutch, haven't forgotten about you rescueing my trekking poles and then shipping them to me. . . I'll make sure to square things up with you then!

I'll second the warning about ice patches hidden in the shadows of otherwise safe roads. It comes on pretty quick once you gain a little elevation.

I hate that I missed the last one, and it looks like I have to miss this one, too. I was able to fly out from Monterey, CA, for one of the Hot Springs hangs, though! Maybe if I can find a reason for the govt to send me out that way...

If nothing else, I need to come by just to get some of NCP's luck...

It's usually based at Wise Shelter, which is a short hike in from the parking lot...I think about 1.5 mi. Some people bring pulks and wagons for heavy gear. Some folks go on day hikes and others stick around the shelter the whole time.

I hiked my gear in Friday, then walked back to the car on Saturday to get 3 gallons of cider for the Saturday night dinner. (Then I fell and busted one of the gallon jugs inside my pack, so we only had 2!)

So for gear planning, you'll have to navigate ~1.5 miles over stable, but snowy/icy terrain with one moderate stream crossing. Worth bringing some heavy gear if you want to.

I'll genuinely consider breaking the distance record at one of the next Winter Hangouts... Probably won't be bringing any logs from home though
But if finances, gear acquisition and vacation fits in the future, I just might hop aboard the plane and fly over the pond. (...oh yeah the wife plays a small but significant role too )

Really hope to see you guys in the future!

Well, provided there doesn't come another winter storm 2 days before the hang again, I'll be there!!
