I simply hand sew them on the hem with about 6 or 7 stitches. Now location is determined by different variables. First hang your quilt. I sleep with my head left and feet right. Those 2 corners I put the hooks about 2 or 3 inches form teh end of the quilt. The other 2 corners I put the hook 6 or 7 inches away and that allows the quilt to hang asym giving you a bigger sweet spot. It is best if you have someone lay in the hammock. However the first 2 hooks mentioned are by far the most critical and I always have them close to the quilt.

    Dutch, so you recommend four?

I was also wondering about spacing them out so the UQ could be adjusted/slid to allow more "venting". I think you answered that.

4 hold it real well. You can also get 2 more to put on the suspension to change the direction of the suspension. You could get away with just 2, one athe left shoulder and one at the right foot/ knee.

Have you thought about sewing the hooks to the quilt, then create a "ladder" of places to hook them onto the hammock body, so you can adjust it a little based on need?

That was what I was wondering about Rock. Hooking them, means you can't slide a 3/4 up or down very much to adjust. But I got to thinking to just buy maybe 8 of them, put them in at differenent positions, one where the UQ is right at your shoulders, and maybe another set down lower or higher. So you can just unhook, slide down to the other set and rehook.

Just ordered 6. You're a genius Dutch! Also, for those who have checked out outdoortrailgear.com I have now ordered the mini alky stove (sips fuel) and a wonderful Ranger red wool cap (lightweight but extremely functional). Thanks for helping introduce me to some of America's finest entrepreneurs, Dutch.
