Tumbler Ridge B.C. - Bergeron Cliffs to Falls Loop

Decided to jump in the wagon and head down to Tumbler Ridge last Friday. Packed up a day pack, some dehy chili, my BB and a stove, and hit the trail. Made it to the trailhead early in the a.m. and worked my way up Bergeron mountain to the Bergeron Cliffs. The view from the top of the cliff band was pretty spectacular at this time of year, the poplar having changed color. I thought that this would be a great place to put a hammock, especially with the view, but unfortunately the pine beetle have been hard on the trees, and I don't think camping here would be a great idea. After a bit of a rest and a snack, I worked my way back down, and started on the Bergeron falls trail. This was a fairly rough loop, with some light scrambling through a slot canyon to get to the base of the falls for some pics. Once back out, it was a tough slog to the top of the falls and back to the trailhead, with some side spurs to various small falls and ridges. The whole trip was about 18kms or so with some pretty good ups and downs, but was well worth it. It was a good solid day trip with a fairly steady pace, but I still had time to take plenty of breaks and photos.

    Cheers

    I love the Peace Country.

Hey Hitchhiking, Tumbler is really coming back around! The mines are firing back up, they put a dinosaur museum in the old school and are building a new community center. They even have a Subway now...going big time!

Thanks Shug! Sorry to hear that you are dealing with them there as well. They have pretty much wiped out all of the pine around here, even the small ones. Hope they don't switch to spruce... I'll be trying to hang from willow soon!

    Cheers
