    Warbonnet Blackbird and Snugfit Question

Does anyone have any experience with using both the Snugfit and the JRB quilts with their Blackbird? Thanks for any information you all might have. Mule

Mule, I'd talk to Cannibal on that one. He seems to be the resident Warbonnet-holic around here.

I have a JRB underquilt and would like to know if it would work with the Blackbird.

I know the JRB quilts work very well with the BB. No problem at all. Mule

    Never enough!

I've used the SnugFit on the BlackBird without issue, but have never used a JRB quilt as an underquilt on the BB when camping; just setting it up in the basement, seemed to work fine. No doubt they will preform in the field too.

Genuine Draft will be using the BB-SF combo for a couple of nights starting New Year's Day. We want to find out how cold she can go with just the SF under her and I've got some new testing to do. I'll write-up a little report on the SF when we get back.

Mule, I'm confused about what you are asking. From the above you seem to be asking if a JRB quilt will work with the BB, but in the latter post you seem to be stating that you already know the JRB quilts work fine with the BB? Or were you originally asking about using a Snugfit and a JRB quilt together on the BB? Or, asking if someone has used both with the BB for the purpose of comparison?

Anyway, I have been using the JRB MWUQ with the BB, and it seems to work just fine. I tested it at a very windy 18*F, at which I was OK- but had not quite figured out how to make it fit right on the foot end, and had some pretty good gaps to the left. Still, I was OK.

Since then I have gotten better at adjusting the foot end so that there is very little gap. But, in addition, I am also "cheating" with some grip clips and shock cord over the BB RL at the foot end, and this appears to have made any leg gaps about non-existent. I'll keep working at adjustment without this trick, but this is awful quick and easy to do. I see no negatives except the 1/2 oz or so it weighs, but I usually have that with me anyway.

So, it appears to work great, and I suppose the other JRB quilts would also.

BillyBob58, Thanks for the information. Yes. I guess it was confusing. I know the BB works great with the JRB quilts. I had mine out two weekends ago at 5 deg. F and gusts to 40MPH. With a weather cover and Super Fly it was toasty. I was just wondering if anyone was having even better luck with the snugfit. Thanks again for your input. Mule

Looks like the lowest temps we're gonna see this weekend are 4F.

Winds should be 10-20 mph so that should help cool it off a bit. We will both be under SuperFlies hanging BlackBirds (dbl. 1.7 and dbl 1.1) and Genuine Draft will be using the SnugFit for 2 nights then switching out to what I'm using for the third night just to make a nice comparison. Camp on the first night will be at 9300'; second day will be spent scouting some good sites up on a nearby peak that is around 10,400'. Really hoping to find a good site up there; it's gorgeous!

In addition to some mandatory hammock/tarp/UQ pics, I will try to get some shots of the amazing views in this area. We'll be near Fraser, CO a few miles out of town and UP a bit, but I've got me a new thermometer, so I should be able to report real time temps and conditions. Two more nights under a roof then it's FUN TIME!
