What's wrong with ENO single?

Hi all,

Just recently got into hanging. Bought my first hammock last month - an ENO single. Just ordered another ENO single today so that my wife and I each have one.

I'm just wondering what most experienced folks consider "wrong" with the ENO singlenest. In other words, what are the cons? Why would one spend more money on a different hammock?

I realize the bug net feature is a good reason to spend more. And if you're a heavy hanger, you may want to spend more money to get a hammock rated for a heavier load. But beyond that - what features am I missing out on by not buying a $150-$200 hammock?

I don't think there is anything "wrong" with the Singlenest. It seems most people around here that have ENO hammocks prefer the Doublenest. I have to agree with them. The extra width makes it a little more comfy.

everyone i know with eno's have got doubles, because you can always deal with more room (and you can lay more diagonal) than less room.

just being able to get more comfortable in the dbl is a big thing to me. i took back the single and swapped it about 3 times for the DN, just because i couldnt tell exactly what i wanted and ended up deciding that as far as the enos go, id rather have the more spacious one.

and i also have a Black bird, which is my preferred camping hammock with or without the net just because its designed more for a body to lay in it a certain way, which helps get a good nights sleep.

Its the exact same size as the hammock i got for $20 at Academy. I find it to be narrow for me. As for something wrong with it. I would say nothing if your comfortable in it. Can't beat the color combos.

There is nothing wrong with ENO single. A ENO single may be all you need depending on your height and weight.

The ENO DN holds up to 400 lbs and is very roomy. I have one and everyone in my family loves it. I am a big guy at 6ft 2 and 280lbs and like the room.

You will want to toss the the suspension that comes with the ENO's and get something that is more used friendly and weights less.

I take my ENO DN on my day hikes so if I fell like stopping and taking a "hang break", I'm ready.

Cool. Understood. I can see why I'm partial to the ENO single...

1. I've only tried one other hammock besides the ENO single.
2. I don't camp in a hammock yet - just casual/recreational user.
3. I'm 6ft 4in tall but only 155 lbs. Skinny as a rail. So I don't need too much width/space.

I would suggest trading one of the singles for a double. You'll see then why many folks who hang prefer a bit more room when possible. You'll then have a side by side comparison, and will be able to judge for yourself. I've got the double and really enjoy it. Have fun with them, and try an overnighter!!

I like the added flexibility for moving around in a double and I figure if I double in size some day the weight limit will still cover me.

and THAT would make a HUGE difference - I'm 6'4", but double your weight. I have a DN and an SN, (got the SN first thinkin' doin' some hangin' around might just be cool and useful for the wife...5'4"....)

I've set my hammock up on on our balcony from the roof rafters and I can't imagine trying to spend a night in an SN, even after learning how to lay properly for a good night's rest. It's just too small for me - doesn't make the hammock bad or wrong, just that I certainly ain't made for it, so, why blame ENO??

As mentioned as well - If you're comfy in it, it just means somebody's gonna read your post and possibly reply in the tone of "How in the WORLD can you do that in THAT??!!"

...If we were all the same I guess ENO would have a lot easier time just making ONE size 'eh??
