East Texas Hang - March 19-21

I'm just throwing this out there...who'd be up for a group hang in east Texas sometime? There's the Davey Crockett, Sam Houston, Angelina, and Sabine National Forests, the Big Thicket, and Caddo Lake.

There are options for paddling in and hanging out with the gators, as well as dryer locations for those who'd rather hike in. There's even a spot I know where folks could mountain bike or ride a horse in.

I know it's a long way away, but I'll be in the area in September. I grew up in Spurger (north of Silsbee). I'm in the Navy now living in Japan. Let me know if you wanna 'hang' out.

I wouldn't want to miss it. Toss out some dates and let's get it on the calendar.

Based upon past history, if the date is right, we could get a couple of dozen folks there. Although not necessary for many of us, a car camping, secluded place, with porcelain facilities would be a draw.

let's see...I could probably swing something sometime between Mar 13-21 or April 1-4 the easiest. Those are spring and Easter breaks. I might be able to do something on any other weekend, too, but I don't know how easy it will be to get away for a bit. Final exams start on May 10, and I don't know what my exam schedule will be, so tentatively figure I'll be able to get away for a weekend easy enough starting the 15th (last day of exams is the 14th).

In order of preference for me:
    sometime from March 13-21
    May15 or later
    April 1-4
    some other weekend

you won't find many campgrounds with porcelain facilities in this part of the state, from what I have seen. everything tends towards the rustic (pit toilets are easy to find). there are a couple more heavily used car campgrounds I haven't been to yet, and they might be more developed. but we're also talking more crowded

it would help if I knew what folks would be interested in doing during the day. Are most interested in hiking, or is there a large enough group interested in paddling or mountain biking?

I mostly keep the fire going, and the coffee on.

A bit of day hiking would be my interest.
