A very nice tweak, Old Dog. Does this hinge have a special name? Is it like the wrought iron look ones often used on rustic look cabinets?
Olddog,
Wow.
That is really slick. That completely take care of the 'not quite right' tripods that most of us use. Are those standard gate hinges?
Love the blue as well.

Very nice, OD. Have you noticed any signs of fatigue where the hinges join the legs?
Jason, I had similar problems, but that trick with looping the whoopie slings back to the center gave me enough adjust-ability to get the hang closer what I do from trees.
Shumway,
It just seems to take more fiddling with to get to that perfect lay when using the stands. Hanging from trees I can just eyeball it then make maybe 1 adjustment and I'm golden. In the stand it takes several in and out adjustments but then all is good and zzzzzzzzzzz.
jason
yeah I find that too
Picked up the hinges at HD, they are listed as 6" 'decorative tee hinges'
None so far but I only have about 5 minutes in it. My wife had it for the first night and we were up at 5:00 this morning for an out patient procedure so she didn't even get a full night in it. That was her first night and she'll be in the bed for at least one night. Hopefully she will soon be able to give it a real test.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
OldDog that looks really good & sturdy. If mine buckles, I'm definitely going to be using your gate hinge idea for a version two of the collapsible Cat in a Hat Stand. As turtlelady mentioned a while ago, now that I have my stand, I see possible materials all around me. If I can find square, aluminum, 1 meter (a little over 3 feet) tubes that fit tightly over a piece of square leg material, I'm going to give it a go.
Stand is holding up good though considering the light weight materials used. I'm going to be using it outdoors with a tarp again from this Thursday 'till Sunday. Last time I didn't get a chance to take pictures, I'll try to do it this time though.
I think I'll give that one a go, as soon as I finish making my hammock. Thanks for sharing.
