    The sock weighs 2.5 lbs.

Total weight of my 0 deg. set-up. which includes sock, hammock, down quilt, synthetic bag peapod and Reflectix pad is 9 lb. 14 oz.

A huge advantage of the sock is not having to deal with a tarp and stakes when the ground is frozen like a rock.

Excellent post. Too bad winter is nearly over where I am. Harbor Freight has a 9x12 drop cloth for $14.99. It's heavy but it's enough material to work with. Thanks again for the post.
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

Harbor Freight regularly has 40% off coupons, and their canvas was nicer than Menards.
