I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. - E. B. White (1899 - 1985)
The Salmon river runs through some beautiful country. Sounds like a wonderful trip. I hope to be able to float it some day.
How far did you go? Where do you put in and take out? I'm just curious as it looks like the best part of the river would be between North Fork and Riggins. There aren't many roads in that area.
You made a very good guess....put-in is Corn Creek, end of the forest service road east from North Fork. There are several take-outs up river from Riggins. We usually take-out at Carey Creek, but this year we added 12 extra miles (one extra day) and took out at Spring Bar. The extra day was a real treat. If we had taken out at Carey Creek we would have missed the chance for the double tarp set-up and the bull frog beach. Total of about 92 miles in 9 days through the Frank Church River Of No Return Wilderness. My all time favorite river trip.....this was my 15th time.
