    Hey Perkolady,
That is a 10 inch DO.
I find that it's a perfect size for cakes. With a 12 inch, they are a little thinner.

I thought galvanized pipes gave off dangerous gases when heated up. Could be wrong.

Wow! That was awsome. Are you another old scouter? A DO is sometimes a dead giveaway.

Yeah, you just can't hide it. I have been an ASM for 11 years, in the troop my boys were in. They're both grown now, but I'm still involved some. I'm teaching the Camping and Backpacking Merit Badges right now. I am amazed at the questions I get about my hammock. Our SPL got one for Christmas after he and his Dad saw mine.

It didn't seem to bother the cookie or cinnamon rolls, but just in case, I stopped at Home Depot tonight to pick up a non-galvanized set.
    Thanks for the info guys.

It may be that those baking temps wouldn't be a problem. And to be honest, I know just enough to be dangerous. I'm thinking of ventilation precautions welders have to take when welding galvanized stuff.

Anyway, thanks for sharing the photos. Sure looks good!!!!!

    Swampfox,
It has been a long time since I went to Jones Gap. I have hiked there but never done any camping. I know the sites are trial side sites, correct? Do you have to reserve them or are they on a first come basis? Also how far in are the sites from the nature hut area? Thanks again for the great report. It is making me want to head back up to that area. I am looking a trout fishing weekend with my 2 boys up to Burrels Ford in the next month or 2.

    Thanks again,

    Chris

"I thought galvanized pipes gave off dangerous gases when heated up. Could be wrong.

A lighter alternative to the Galvanized pipe is to take ... 3 wads of aluminum foil, then roll into a ball. Next, flatten each ball down to form a 1 inch thick round by 1.5 inch (or so) disk. Poof... your done. Now place the disks into the bottom of pot. works like a charm!
