    If miles are the thing, I vote to stay further south. Less driving, more hiking. Driving all the way to Grand Marais is a waste of a weekend IMHO. If the majority of folks disagree that's fine. I drive 300+ miles a day, Mon-Fri, I'd rather be on ANY trail than behind the wheel.

    i would keep miles somewhat manageable like 7-10 per day.
    i do not remember the question, however i believe beer is the answer

    I wouldn't think anymore than that. I'm sure our pack weight will be a little heavier because of the cold too.

    The 14-16 works for me and I would exspect it to be brisk that far north???

    Minnesota weather

    It usually snows for the first time around Halloween up here. Last year it was Oct 12, but it didn't stay long. There is no telling what we're gonna get, but it could be freezing as likely as hot.

    Cross River is one of my favorite sections and is where I encountered a Huge Wolf. The river is wonderful.

    Yeah, that's the one I'm talking about. I'll be camping at one of the sites there on Sep. 13th for the start of a 5 day trip.
