SOLD: a used First Need water filter in good working condition. I have no idea how many "miles" are on the cartridge, but it works fine. $28 including US shipping and PayPal fees.

Interested, can't seem to find any specs on this online. Can you tell me the model # of this?
Thanks Dale, one last question, do you know if First Need still makes replacement cartridges for this model?
Yes and no. The original filter is not available. The current/updated filter will work:
"The First Need XLE Elite Water Purifier Replacement Canister is also compatible with First Need XL and earlier systems. The new XLE canister is more durable and shock proof and equipped with a new Cleanout Port for backwashing without hose removal and flow reversal, reducing contact with dirty water. The Cleanout Port extends canister life (180 gallons) by efficient removal of silt and debris."
These filters can be backflushed. You can get a barb fitting to go on your faucet or garden hose and attach that to the clean side hose of this one. With slow easy pressure, your can flush out sediment. Pre-filtering with a coffee filter or even a folded bandana is a good idea with any filter.
Thanks Dale, let me talk to the boss and see if I can this. I'll send you an PM tonight but don't hold it for me if someone else wants it
Nevermind........sorry for the confusion.
These were cutting edge with Katadyn when the Giardia scare hit. They are a very good filter originally developed for boating and expedition type water treatment. I have one and 2 spare canisters now. This is my "go to" filter for paddling in civilized country as it will filter out a lot of farm runoff chemicals. Heavy for back packing. Well worth the price. If it sits too long PM me.
YMMV
HYOH
Free advice worth what you paid for it. ;-)
I've got one just like It I keep for emergencies. I took It out 6 months ago and ran red food color through It. Came out crystal clear.
