The sewing part really is the easiest part although it looks really scary. The hardest part is the planning and prep work. Good luck to you when you start.

    +100

What little time have for DIY projects is mostly spent cutting, pinning, planning, calculating, ect.

I usually get a few projects ready to to stitch and try to do that all at once. It feels like I get more accomplished this way.

I'd agree with this, as long as you know how to use your machine. The sewing is the fun part! It's the cutting the patterns and measuring out everything that is boring...

It's kind of funny to think about it but a machine operator in a factory makes an hourly wage (not bad but not great) but the pattern maker, cutters, process designers, sample makers, project managers are salaried with bonuses...ever wonder why?

If you get ahold of some of the standard woodland and make another one, I'd be interested buying.

Working as a Quality Engineer at an autmobile Manufacturer, I understand exactly! 2.5 years of prep and validation on a new model for a 7 hour long car build (not counting stamping and paint). Measure 512 times, cut once.

    Sweet Ride.

You have excellent sewing skills. I second the idea of camo and black inside.

    Groovy!

Key points to make sure you do are the grosgrain loops on the two ends by the whipping. These provide structural integrity for the footbox and shelf. I used the one piece footbox/shelf pattern, but changed it by putting a radius in the footbox, instead of the big triangle. I think it was something like a 4" radius if I remember correctly. Using the 68" wide fabric was perfect because I could trim off 8" for the full length to make the piece for the zipper that attaches to the bug netting. Another difference is I build the whole thing, lay the ridgeline and loops in, then whip the hammock. This brings everything together nicely
I am getting ready to put together my own DIY "WarBird" and I am confused by what you meant by grosgrain loops on the ends? I haven't seen these mentioned in any of the directions I've looked at and am just wondering what you were referring to. Sorry if this is something that should be obvious.
