I agree that is a sweet tarp. I have to toot my own horn here. On saturday Michele from WB told me about a MacCat Deluxe that came up for sale. Thinking I might have gotten in to late I went ahead an emailed the owner anyhow. To my surprise the tarp had not been sold. So as soon as the snailmail gets my MO to the owner and returns my new tarp I will be the proud owner of a MacCat Deluxe. I was thinking that with Brian away at school I would have to wait until he gets up and running to get one or I would have to order a HH Hex. I will post a report as soon as I get chance to use it.

The only draw back to the MacCat's design that I do not like is that it requires 4 stakes to stake it out.

I have to agree with you. That was one of my concerns when I decided I wanted more coverage than my stock HH tarps for my ULBA and Expeda. I looked at many tarps and came to the comclusion that the MacCat and the HH Hex gave me more coverage and usable space under the tarp. The big deciding factor for me was the usable space under the tarp.

That's not such a drawback as an advantage to some...

I don't know why, but I like olive drab gear and not camo gear. Like my latest down hammock:

I looked a lot of tarps too before I got the Jacks R Better tarp. I wanted one with a lots of space under it. I own a regular MacCat and found out that I liked it but it really seemed to be smalled then the stock tarp that came with my hammock. So I was concerned that the Deluxe would not be much better. They other thin that convinced me was that it is faster to set two states up in the rain then 4 and carrying two stakes is lighter then carrying 4.

I am not saying the MacCat Deluxe is a bad tarp. It may be a great one. I was just scared to make the plunge because I was not impressed with the MacCat regular when comparing it to the stock tarp that my hammock came with.

I would like to hear a report once you get it telling us how you like it.

JustJeff posted a picture of TBacks tarp tie out from the recient SEHHA campout in Hot Springs. H uses one stake to tie out the side of his nomaly 2 stake tieout tarp. I am thinking of giving this a go and seeing if I can get it to work with my MacCat. Here is a link to Jeff's SEHHA picture page. It is on there.
