What a great thread and videos! I didn't see this trip shaping up or I would have gone. Maybe next time. I need to keep up on all the new posts. Thanks, Shug for a good time at the movies! Mule
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.
Ok, I'll tell you what it is. Every now and then when I am driving east into the city the clouds hang very low over Lake Michigan, the skies above are blue. It doesn't look like fog, but instead billowing clouds. The sun is rising up from behind and is not yet shining over them. It creates a beautiful silhouette. The best way to describe how it looks is when you go to Denver and start driving west out to the mountains. It always warms my heart, filling me with memories and makes me want to go backpacking. One day I hope to get a picture of it. So there you go, the Chicago Mountains.

I spent many a morning on the Northwestern University Campus watching Lake Michigan. I have very fond memories of the time I spent in Chicago and on the shore of the Lake. I used to watch thunderstorms over Gary, Indiana from my vantage point on campus.
Chicago is the one big city I know that I think I could live in and enjoy it. I'm not a city person.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Phenomena as you describe are just yet another reason I love living in the Great Lakes region. All that fresh water does amazing things for the eco-diversity of the area. Amazing. I'm in love.
