    Arrow California Hammock Hikers??

A shout out to California Hammock dwellers,
Maybe it's just me but I don't see alot of hammocks out here on the trails?? I started last year with my ENO double nest on parts of the Muir trail and then some hikes in central CA never seeing anyone eles in a Hammock most times on the trail I was a conversation piece... I know back East it seams to be massive but whats the health of Hammocks out here?
In my attempts to promote the Hammock Disorder I have orderd 30 yards of 1.9 ripstop and engadged our local scouting group in making some gathered end hammocks!!!

It can be done we can save CALIFORNIA

    Testify and amen!

It's true, though. Except for Yosemite Valley, I almost never see hammocks (and I'm pretty sure those hammocks are from visiting hammock dignitaries). Still, glad to have you onboard--we'll hang California one hiker at a time! (not in the bad, civil-war-court-martial-way, but rather, in the good, hammocky, way... I don't believe we have to get THAT extreme--yet ).
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

I started hanging last summer, and since I didn't want to be the only one, I had to convince 3 of my buddies to do the same. 4 in one shot. Guess we have to be the ambassadors for hanging.

The only hangers that I have seen on the trail were my two friends and I. We've been to the Tehachapi mountains, along portions of the PCT, and all over Sequioa Park - still just us three and our tree slings. Maybe we should go door- to-door and recruit, or is that too cult-ish?

I do what I can where I live. 10 of us in my troop. And last year we had a mini hang in Big Bear.
Tortoise never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course.

Nooooo...less hangers = more trees for us!

We are getting a number of Cali hammockers checking in here so the trend seems to be on the upswing.

I'm in the SW and I concur. No hammocks. Well, except mine. I think the reason is that the obvious superiority of the hammock system isn't as obvious here. We don't have wet ground, bugs, thick underbrush and tons of trees. That means that only us smart people figure it out

And then there is the added cost of having to have both a tent and a hammock system because hammocks are not your go to for desert backpacking.

I've only seen 1 or 2 hammocks on camping trips. Everyone seems to bring tents. I've been doing overnighters with a few friends off a jungletraining forum, and there's usually just 1 every trip. I've been tarp camping myself, still waiting on my Warbonnet (seems likes forever). Once the WBBB comes in, I'll be doing 80% hammock.

I'm hoping to do a hammocks only trip in two weeks.

It's true you won't see many hangers here but our numbers are growing. You probably won't see me though. Rarely do I hang at an established campsite.

Count another. I am working on two more converts at the moment. Hopefully they like their new DIY hammocks.
