I've "camped" in my back yard a couple of times and here in FL the A/C is almost a year-round necessity. So, I got to hear the outside cooling unit for mine and the neighbor fire up every few minutes. This wasn't as bad actually as bullfrogs....I went on a paddle here in FL a few years ago and there must have been a dozen all hoping to lure in a mate (or whatever they croak for). It was a dull roar all night and I barely slept. Since a couple of these occasions I always keep a pair of foam earplugs in the first aid kit.....

I'm hanging outside now and it is crazy noisy. I swear if I play a song on the iPad, it will only be to quiet things down. Early evening night critters are all chatty tonight.

All the others sounds are "natural" and I enjoy them as part of my quest for the outdoors. I like even hiking in the rain so I have no problem with on my tarp. Owls! Now there's a lot of "sound to weight" ratio! But I love hearing them.

How about the noise at the Sherpa Hang last spring? I still believe it was a Chupacabra!

I get awakened occasionally, in my back yard, by a pack of coyotes that sound like something from a horror movie...

I love the sound of rain on my tarp.. its hard to enjoy it though, considering how fast it puts me to sleep.

I'm fortunate to find the sound of cicadas comforting, there are so many around here

Last year the shear number of cicadas gave me a migrane after a short morning hike.

I do love the sound of rain on my tarp. No better way to wake up or go to sleep. So long as the tarp doesn't leak that is. (Don't ask.) This morning I was awoken by the most natural of sounds. Gunshots. Not sure what they were shooting, but they either got a bunch of them or they need to seriously work on their aim. Never was a single shot always a cacophony. Sounded like a 21 gun salute going off.

ps: talkin about "zukiguy") actuly I find bullfrogs to be like crickets or cicadas like a lulaby it's interesting it 50/50 on people who like "natures noisemakers" and people who don't.

actualy I had the same problem with the coyotes! we live in southern TN and when we go on vacation someone would checkup on the house, one night they left the garage door open when they came home they saw "coyotes fleeing the seen of a crime"! thankfuly they didn't eat the cats" does anyone else think coyotes sound like evil demon chiwawas?!?!?!?! it sends chills down your spine when you hear them!!! that is one sound inthe night I don't like!
