    Rev - I was speaking generically. The tone of your post and the others was just fine. Similarly my post was meant to address an issue but in a light hearted way. Mission failed.

    I wouldn't say it failed. I was remiss in not stating that given a choice between a lesser expesnive shipping option and a discount on the per foot cost I would go with the cheaper shipping. Charge me an extra $0.02/ foot for the small order. Save me $3 on the shipping. I can live with that. Of course given both... I'll re-arrange my bookmarks for the rope suppliers I have.
    I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

    How can I get the blue dye off my blue without compromising the rope?

    It gets on me everytime I use the rope and it's a PITN. I've washed it with soap and while it gets a lot off, it still isn't very effective. I'm hesitant to use anything else 'cause I don't want to potentially damage my rope.

    PS I think 100 foot lengths would be a reasonable minimum.

    You can't. That blue is part of the Samthane coating.

    Clipped from the web:
    Samthane™ Coatings are a family of abrasion resistant coatings which are specifically formulated to match end-user requirements and specific rope constructions. The advantages and differences of these coatings are outlined below:

    Advantages:

    * Improves service life
    * Enhances abrasion resistance
    * Reduces cutting
    * Reduces snagging
    * Prevents contamination
    * Color coding for identification

    Maybe we can work with Amsteel House to get more shipping options available online. That would be in everyone's best interest.
    I knew I had read some suppliers were doing this for small orders, but I couldn't find if they were one of them. I was hoping (by my post) this would allow Amsteel House an opportunity to show these options. Perhapse that could be part of the "discount code" a small order rate could be set up, shown on the forums for example 25'-50' shipped First Class for $2.25? By using a coupon/discount code this could cut down on the need for the phone call.

    I ordered 100' of AS blue from them recently - I called them because the online program was calculating a huge shipping cost. The guy that answered said they wouldn't charge that much, they shipped it in a small envelope - can't find my receipt but the shipping was only like 3 or 4 bucks.

    Also, I'm pretty sure I ordered this same stuff in grey from Annapolis Sailing last year. It sure looks like the same stuff only grey (used it to convert the suspension on a claytor).

    Same here. My shipping was like 4 dollars so I got 100 feet for almost exactly $20. I have already used it all to so I have to get some more...lol.

    Lots O' Questions.

    I know that this was all just posted today, but is calling them directly the best method?
    What is the discount code?
    Can we use the discount code over the phone or just a simple mention of the hammock forums to obtain the discount and to discuss alternate shipping methods?

    Seems like a great idea if it works out to be cheeper for us.
    I use amsteel to attatch my ring buckles to the hammock and as my ridge line.
