    Suggestions on Hammock in Truck

Any suggestions on how I can go about hanging two hammocks in a short bed pickup (tacoma dbl cab) with one of these: http://www.enelcompany.com/
    ??????

I think I finally met my match and come across something that is not possible. I was looking at some portable hammocks with stands, but I think they are too long. I only have about 75" or so inside the bed of the truck.

I have a question for ya. What if you were to make a common attachment point that attaches to the trailer hitch receiver? Think of a "T" at the top of an "L". At the cab end look at placing some rectangular Aluminum or steel tubing that will fit in the stake holes of the bed. If I was at work i could make a diagram. I know this will be heavy, but you are using your truck!!!!!!!

I have a dbl cab tacoma also. The bed is pretty short so a hammock will be hanging beyond the end of the pickup bed so I'm not sure how well the enelcompany truck tent will provide rain protection.

If you get the rain coverge solved then maybe a DIY of something like this hitch attachment for the rear end: http://www.customcanopy.com/hamx2go.html

On my Tacoma I made siderails that extend about a foot above the top of the bed to help keep my big dogs from falling out. (my tacoma doesn't have stake holes). These rails are welded to the tie downs that are bolted in each corner of the bed. Perhaps a taller, beefier version of my side rails plus a cross piece (think roll bar) to attach the hammocks to at the cab end would work.

If it were me and not committed to the truck tent, I'd look at making a frame, basically a box that fits the bed and tie that into the hitch extension. Then make a tarp to cover the whole thing. Should be able to make it so that it can be disassembled and laid in the bed for transporting.

No, I'm not giving up the tent. I just got it, and it's awesome. I have a truck bedz air mattress, which is custom for the truck. I think I will just bring the hammocks with me and use them if I can. This will always give me more options.

You're right then, pretty difficult to hang in the truck tent without adding on a back porch. Enjoy!

Yeah, the hitch extender might work, but you may need to use a small tarp to extend your coverage. I don't know that the tent will be long enough.
    I like it though.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Anybody ever used a single tree and the roof bars on the top of an SUV as a secondary haning point.

Heres my truck hanging option. Whipped this up in a couple hours one afternoon...

I have a 6' bed and if I had a mounting point at the front of the bed, I could probably set up my hammocks in the bed.

Hey Opie, I have been kicking around the same idea as yours only adding a 2nd T-rack behind the truck with a 12' square tubing extension between the two. The 2nd T-rack would have 2 stabilizer jacks to support it. It will pin together for easy assembly/disassembly.

If you had a headache rack on your truck, that would work for the front attachments.
