    Claytor JH update

Ok, so I get home for work and find a note from USPS that says I have 2 packages that need to be picked up. Just in time for the camp out in the morning. So in the morning I load my gear up and head to the post office, ah, first in line. Get both of the bags, through them in the backpack, and I'm on my way. ( I will do a full trip report in a little bit). Fast forward to camp set up. I open the bag that says " 1 Jungle Hammock" on it. But on the inside is a compression sack that says "Mosquito Hammock". Surely they just put the JH in the wrong bag.....WRONG. Ok, well I set it up anyway. Decided not to make any changes in support systems yet. When up easy, looks good, open up the netting to find that there is only 1 zipper. The right hand zipper is no where to be found. There is suppose to be 2, right? Put the pad in and tried it out. Not too bad, a little tight, but I think I still want the JH instead. I e-mailed Tom to see what he could do about it, time will tell. Oh, the tarp worked great!

    Mitch,
Bummer! You have had a rough time on this order. I feel confident all will be made right with you. Tom is very good about taking care of customer problems. You should receive a reply from him soon. I don't remember how long it took to receive my JH, but it was worth the wait. I have really enjoyed it.

    Sucks dude.
I hope it is made right; no reason to believe it won't be.

I don't know if the "Mosquito Hammock" is the same thing, but my Claytor Jungle Hammock only has a zipper on one side, and I thought that was how they are made.

I've very happy with it, and have heard nothing but good things about Tom's customer service. I'm sure if there was an error, he will make good on it.

Yes, it only opens on one side, but on that side it should have two zipper that meet in the middle. If it only had one zipper, then you could only close it at one end. See what I mean?

It should have two zipper pulls on one side, and a single zipper on one side of the hammock and bugnet.

A big mistake would be to use the orig suspension, with the claytor knot. I made this mistake once, and will never do that again. The first night I took it out we got some rain. I woke up soaked to the bone.

Thus, I jumped into the hammock with my 4yr old (HH Exped) for the rest of the knight. When I woke up and went back to my JH, my OQ was floating in 1-2 gallons of water. At least the hammock bottom is waterproof.

The hammock is totally awesome, however, the suspension system sucks. This will cause your death if you go out in the cold wet weather.

I have never had any problems with my Claytor's suspension. This is mainly due to reading about it here and replacing it before I ever used it.

    Thanks Hammock Forums!
