My wife still doesn't quite get that one.
At this stage of the disease/obsession/biological imperative , I am still resisting the urge to purchase multiple cottage setups. I compensate with daily rationalization, buying table cloths and spending even more stupid amounts of time researching what is essentially a single piece of cloth and 2 ropes.

Yep, three stinking pieces to the assembly but somehow I am overwhelmed by options, complexity and some sort of never ending journey.

Currently evaluating tarps, avoiding silnylon because I've already torn an ultralight dry sack and don't want to deal w/ fancy repairs. At least that's my rationale for today. Looing to buy the Kelty closeout drop cloth and maybe a guide gear setup. So that's what, $80-$90 for two tarps instead of buying some cottage tarp for a $100? Yeah, that's messed up.

Know what else? MagnaFabrics.com is within driving distance. Thinking about calling Larry.

Did I mention I don't even have a thread injector?
    I am surrounded by them.
    But I don't own one.
My not so helpful brother in law reminded me last night that even he has one.
I tried weakly to protest, " I don't know how to sew".
    'It's straight lines.'
    "But but but..."

    Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh

Oh, then there's our friend down in Pennsville NJ building Aluminum TurtleLady stands.
Yeah, so I've located 6 major manufacturers in driving distance.
Debating buying some bulk, 60 8ft pieces and offering a deal.
Locating local sheet metal dealers so I don't do something stupid.

Again my brother in law checks in, 'Hey, there's some business down the street with all kinds of stock in the yard, check there.'

What kind of brother-in-law helps perpetuate what is obviously such a destructive, time-consuming pasttime???

Oh, and did I mention Zukiguy's dadgum help?
'go check ebay for cpap battery options...'

YEAH, that only burned 2-3 hours today, researching lithium ion batteries in bulk, prepackaged 14,8v 7800mAh battery packs with IC's to prevent overcharge/underdischarge along with cheap charging devices.

The FAMILY isn't even any help anymore, they just ask, "are you sleeping outside tonight?"

Like, it isn't even weird anymore, they are starting to think it's FREAKING NORMAL !!!

Even my mom asked, 'Can't you put a stand inside the house?'
    WHAT ?!?!?!
Of course I told her, "Yes..."
So that means I really am buying bloody 1x1 16 gauge aluminum stock.

Man, if all this effort doesn't turn into free beer and food, if all I get out of this is peaceful, restful, painfree slumber, well, I guess it's all worth it. lol

Lol!!! I'm sitting here with tears running down my face. I haven't laughed that hard in at least a day! My wife was looking at me like I'm off my rocker. Seriously, the continuing education thing was right on...

Hammocks, what's the big deal, you hang them, you lie in them, what else is there?

Can't believe I never saw this thread. That's some funny stuff, Ratdog. And all this time I thought you were just a normal guy. Little did I know!

Well, you ain't no noob no more, are ya? Seems like I've been hanging with ya for years. My, how time flies.

You definitely have to update this thread - it's been over a year since you posted this and we need to know the progression of the obsession.

Hi.....my name is Trevor and I am a hammocoholic.
Got a little two excited the other night when my wife was sick and didn't want to get me sick. "It's okay honey, I'll just sleep in my hammock". ( that's hanging from eye bolts in the walls of my master bedroom)(eyes bolts that have been the center of the most heated marriage argument of the year).
