Great pics looks like a awesome place to hang out. Is there any trout in that stream? I would have had to do some fishing.

I've not seen his work I don't think Bill, I'll have a look though

Much of the Cairngorm region looks very similar, it's a mix of high heather moorland, rounded summits around 3-4000ft, winding glens with patches of the old Caledonian forest remaining, i.e big old pines, the ground is covered in either bilberries or heather, sandy under foot.

There are trout in the streams Jason, I was thinking about taking some gear next time. Folk pay serious £s to fish around these parts though so it'll have to be stealthy, Tenkara would work well.

Nice report. Where exactly is it? Is this southern Scotland or Pennines in England? Just curious. I really love the odd pine trees and weird undergrowth--can't think of any part of Canada that is quite like it.

Well,,,, sorry if i'm taking us off topic a bit here . I've looked at these watercolors for years yearning to see it and realizing i probably won't. I went to the book of prints ,his Scotland collection and also the map of the Caingorms you provided a link to. Looks like a number of paintings are in the park.

Anyway really enjoyed the pics Rich.

Excellent report and some very beautiful scenery. I always enjoy seeing the different wilderness setting that other countries offer. Thanks for taking us on a tour thru the heather fields!
