    New Incubator -- any tips??

I know ya'll aren't THAT excited, but my new UQ is waiting for me down at the post office. And I am so looking forward to hangin' without trying to keep myself situated on a pad during the night!

    Whoooooo buddy!!

Any tips for me as I try to dial this thing in??

    Cheers.

the standard tip is dial it in with another person in it while you make adjustments.

The best tip I got was adjust it so it actually raises your hammock up a few inches without anyone in it. Love my 20 degree but want a custom wider (I am Costco sized) 0 degree version next.

Read your posts about wanting a wider one. I just had one made from hammock gear, had an extra baffle put in for wraparound warmth. They did an excellent job of it. Actually it wraps so nice I got a narrower under quilt and maintained the same weight. I encourage you to give them a shout.
If a tree falls in the woods and it lands on mime, does anyone care?

Soon enough, soon enough! Already have a custom wide/long Burrow.

For me the issue is more space than weight (though weight does factor a bit). My little BMW F800GS mule can easily carry me and the bitty extra weight of custom sized down insulation...top and bottom!

Dutch's quilt hooks really seem to hold the uq in place and stop it from sliding off your shoulders.

    Tip #1: use it
    Tip #2: enjoy it
Tip #3: for cold weather, pull it up tight.
    Tip #4: use it
    Tip #5: enjoy it.

I have a 20 deg. A few weeks ago I had a problem with a cold lower back. I reached around and could feel a gap right below the cold spot. The next night, I pulled the suspension even tighter. Found I still had a slight gap. Then I found that if I pulled the shock cord near my head up and then the UQ, it made a big difference. It must have tightened the quilt just enough to eliminate the gap. Got up to the call of nature, played back down, could feel the cold spot, pulled up on the quilt, so that it was beside my head, and back to sleep.......RR

This link to the HG thread was exactly what I needed to read. I purchased 3 HG quilts this summer and have been experimenting with getting the right adjustments. A 0 degree incubator is my next purchase for our colder PA winter.

Thanks Shug! Us newbies don't know where all the good stuff is located without a little direction.
