    7/64

    I use 7/64.

I have a sling on a metal hammock stand. The sling is about 1.5' long. It has a 3" bury. I've used it every night for 3 months. Has not failed once. This sling is short. I made it to replace a foot of 1" link chain because I wanted more options for adjustment. With the chain every adjustment was an inch in or an inch out. With the sling it could be a hair.

    I'm 170, 5'4".

Well, my bad in this respect, I keep saying 1/4 when I mean 1/8!

If I can, I'm gonna edit my post to correct that.

    Webbing

I'm a bit of a noob with webbing. I have looked at purchasing some to make my own straps but I'm seeing breaking strengths around, if not less than, the same as 7/64. This is for 2" strapping. Am I looking at the wrong stuff? It would appear to me that if the webbing has a breaking strength of 1000lbs then using anything bigger than 7/64" would be overkill. The weak link is the strap.

Once you have chosen the line and have moved to the checkout you can enter the discount code "Hammockforum" and the discount will appear on the total page. Shipping will likely be $4.95 HINT: Stay away from black, as some have reported it gets all over everything.
They seem to only have it in 600ft for @$115 + $11 S/H.

A little bit more than I need. What is the amount you get with a "Hammockforum" discount?

I would like to get @ 200feet if someone else would be interested I would get the 600, and ship to you.

Or if anyone knows another vendor who has it in 100ft.

Redden will sell it by the foot as well. Its slightly more expensive, but cheaper than buying more than you want.

    try this page...
    http://reddenmarine.com/marine-suppl...ot-silver.html

Personally if you can afford the 600' roll its money well spent as its slightly cheaper per foot and you can never have too much good cord/rope. It'll save having to buymore when you want extra tie outs for a new tarp, or decide you need a second hammock, or to whip up 4 soft shackles, or, try a new suspension system... Or you need some line for bear bagging .... well I'm sure you get it by now...

On www.reddenmarine.com do a search on "amsteel" and then click on the "Amsteel Blue-Assorted colors" link.
Make sure to delete the 1 foot of orange 5/16" amsteel that it automatically fills in; The links on reddenmarine are a bit screwy.
