    Finding Sil Nylon 1.9 ??

I had been reading online and everywhere seems to say WalMart carries thes fabric in their stores with a fabric department. Well I went by the local WalMart to buy some tonight. The older lady looked at me like I'd asked to be beamed up to the space shuttle when I asked her about it. I told her the internet sites I went to seemed to say WalMart carried the fabric. She looked at me and said "That thar internet dont konw everything!" I am from Georgia, ya know.

Any ideas to get some local this weekend??

It could still be there. You're kinda on your own when you go looking locally for these fabrics. They usually have no idea what your are talking about. The best you might get is to ask where the ripstop nylon is and they 'might' have a clue. Other than that you have to go around and look and feel.
Are you looking for sil or just ripstop 1.9?

Went to a Wal-mart today and asked about some ripstop nylon. You'd think I was talking in an alien language? I found it myself. Olive drab ripstop. 1.5oz maybe. Didn't buy it. I don't need it. Just curious.

I had spent like 45 minutes looking myself before I asked. I am going to go tomorrow to a different WalMart.

It's hit and miss finding nylon at Wally world. Last year during the Christmas travel I stopped at about 7 Marts in 6 states and only found some in Kentucky. I've only ever found Sil nylon in Wisconsin. (PS. I live in SC) I enjoy going to Wally world strictly for the scavenger hunt aspect of trying to find nylon that's worth having.

The people that work there always think I'm crazy. First is a fact that a guy is looking at fabric, and second is the desire for a green or grey looking nylon with visible squares in it!

yeah, i think finding one of the ladies that work in wal-mart's fabric dept that knows what silnylon is, would be harder than finding the silnylon at wal-mart

It took me more than 6 months of going back and forth to the three Wal-Marts in my town with a fabric department before I found anything. When you go, look in the $1 bin first before you do anything else. In my experience, no one in the fabric department at those stores, not even the little old ladies, knew what sil was. When I finally found some, the woman who measured it out and tagged it for me even commented on how slippery it was and wanted to knw what it was made out of. It's really a hit-or-miss game to find ripstop or sil at Wally-World, but if you ask me the key is persistence. I went to all the departments in town once a week or so, just to see what they had. Your patience shall be rewarded.

Think you're crazy? When I made my first sil score at Wally-World the other week, I was so excited to finally find sil that I yellled out "Score!" and started doing a happy dance right there in the fabric department. Everyone looked at me like I had a third arm growing out of forehead.
