    whoopie sling question

I made my first two whoopie slings tonight. Everything went OK with one exception. The bury on one locked brummel is only 3 inches.

    Will this be a problem?

I was planning on gifting them to a friend who is letting me try her ENO. I cannot believe she weighs much, but I also don't want her getting a rude awakening some night.

Any advice - redo, or is it OK?

If its a locked brummel then the 3 inches will likely not be a problem. I have hung on a few slings with buries that short. Its not the recommended length but it will hold fine. The failure point in whoopies is where the tail exits the adjustable bury.

I'd probably trust it for me to hang from. If I was giving it to someone else, I'd use Sampson's Lock Stitching instructions to put a guarantee on it.

while not a whoopie the fixed eye on the end of my suspension is a locked brummel with a 3 1/2 bury which was then stitched and so far it has held just fine for me @ bout 225lbs

+1 - Some people are taken back by the comments around fid lengths... once you identify what one fid length is for your particular amsteel, the rest is a piece of cake.... size of rope multiplied by 21.
