Sounds like you all had a great time.
Sounds like you all had a great time.
Definitely had a good time. Was tired of talking by the time I headed home.
I want to chime in with many thanks for a great time with great people! Thanks Mac, the gracious hostess Smiling Face and your great children for opening your home to us. I only hate I had to leave so early, especially just when the fires had just gotten going and folks were still arriving. I enjoyed getting to know several of the folks whose names I see on the forum, and look forward to hopefully getting to hang in the piney woods with ya'll in the near future. My buddy Rob also had a great time and will lbe hanging out on the forum soon!

Ya'll are entyrely welcome to come again! Thank you for the kind words. We had a great time visiting. Lotsa food was added to what we prepared. We ate twice... called it appetizers the first time, then brought out the main course and dug in again. Even so, we'll be eating leftovers for a month!
Flatline ran the chainsaw to make the Swedish candle, and OBXH2O helped set up hammocks and chairs. We had the stoves all loaded, a little fire built on top of the candle, and another fire built in the tray, so Thing1 and I could light them all at once.
IronK prepared some of the food and spent time talking to adults. Thing1 spent time with the kids, who were all girls, for some reason. Smiling Face brought out our kids' old toys. The girls enjoyed handling deBrus the python, climbing trees, running around the yard and sitting by the fire. All of us moved outside after dinner and had a pleasant time around the campfire until 1am!
I had to laugh at the reports in the morning... OBXH2O said the beavers visited each hammock along the banks of the lake, and thumped their tail in the water to express their indignation at the intrusion. They should have applauded... thank you very much to the folks who picked up debris from the edge of the water; it blows across from the park and fetches up amongst the beaver dens under the bank on our side.
More than one visitor talked about spending time getting kids outdoors and teaching them various skills. Thing1 and I brought out the traditional bows and shot arrows at a target in the morning. Like last year, someone suggested we put together a Shoot & Hang... maybe we will get that done soon! (Backtrack, we need to talk!)
Smiling Face enjoyed meeting everyone. She said that hammock hangers are a real intelligent lot! (She spent a lot of time talking to Shutterbug...) Smiling Face wants to be sure to make it back to Hot Springs for SEHHA this spring.
One of my neighbors saw all the cars in front of the house and thought someone had died...
