I guess I am not much of a man. None of that is appealing especially the leather.

Come on, think Vaper Barrier. Plus you would be the only one that would use armorall on your hammock.

And mirrors on the underside of the tarp...with Fog-X, of course.

And you could use synthetic pleather if you'd rather use dinosaurs than cows.

Nah, kill as many cows as you can. Cows SUCK!

Mirrors on the bottom of the tarp...hmm...maybe we should move this to the "hammock fun" thread?

Maybe, but this is one of the few threads that is drifting but still on the topic on hammocking.

Okay, back to the original subject. How did you decide to stay warm: pad or underquilt?

I decided to go with a pad to start (I have a bunch of CCF pads I can try/cut up). I figured I would try the cheap route first and if it does not work for me, I will go with the JRB Nest as it seems to be quite popular.

Even if the pad does work, I will probably try some sort of quilt in the near future.

    blackie,
Thanks for the info, but I already purchased an ultralight backpacker through one of their clearance sales (demos, etc). I purchased the hammock without fly and will be purchasing a maccat delux tarp as soon as I get around to contacting Brain.

Thanks again for all the tips everybody, I just got my hammock in the mail today and it looks awesome. I can't wait to get out there and try it out!
