    tie up.

who's using the hennessy knot, rings, or carabiners to hang with. seems the h. knot to me is simplest. not sure how to use a biner that would be faster. although i have seen a video on using two rings with a biner that looks relativley safe and easy. thanks

I started out using the Hennessy knot but quickly changed to using two rings and finally converted to Whoopie slings without any regrets. Whoopies are fast and easy,

Whoopies make it much easier to center between the trees, take up slack, or make minor adjustments once the hammock is up without re tying the fig. 8. How you choose to attach the whoopies to your tree straps(carabiner, marlinspike hitch, etc.) is a matter of ease of use/weight/space considerations. It's all good!

HH standard hanging. Then rings. Now whoopie slings to which I will fit Dutch's whoopie hook.

I've used the H. Lashing so far, but just bought some climbing carabiners and I'm planning to try the "slippery" Lark's Head as illustrated on pg. 64 of "The Ultimate Hang" by Derek Hansen (which is a great book). Does anyone else use that setup?

I'm just getting started (6 nights in my H.H. Safari) hammock camping.

I used the HH knot with my first hammock----I now use whoopies and tree straps/marlin spike hitch. In my opinion, the whoopies are so much easier to use and adjust! (I would never go back) If you like the HH knot, thats cool--I'm glad it works for you---It didnt work well for me (I found it really annoying!) Thats the cool thing about hamocks---every ones got a system that works for them---there's really no right or wrong way to do it!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.
