My legs are rock hard and ready for this hike. Been doing some serious training so I should be good to go for the mileage ahead of us.

Anybody else care to join us?

You are right! I was mistaken about the location of this shelter: thinking it was at the top of the hill! If I can make it Thursday night it will really be like a car camping trip for me.

If I can't get out of work on time I will day hike in with you Friday morning...

Is there a list of phone #'s in case I need to get in touch with you? What time will you be on the trail Friday morning? I have a 2.5 hour drive from my home. If you guys are already gone I will drive to Gathland and just hike up the trail...

Just a thought. Our day two mileage is kinda short (8.4 miles). PapaSmurf is gonna be at Dahlgren campground so if we feel froggy we could hike right on past Pine Knob shelter (mile 18.3) and go to Dahlgren (mile 24).

It would be a long day (14 miles) but would leave us with a really short walk into MAHHA (6.7 miles).

    Just a thought.

We could just play it by ear, and if we feel up for it, we can do it!

Just gotta keep Demeter informed since she may join us Thursday night.

The AT is always harder than what I normally hike, though I don't think this section is that hard. Playing it by ear is definitely the way to go. I do like the idea of an easy Friday hike. and hanging out with PapaSmurf.

A shower at Dalgreen feels mighty good..yes the walk into mahha is easy. Sleep in and still be there by lunch.
