zipper closure for top loading hammock

On my second attempt at hammock making I have used velcro to close the bug net. I was wondering if anyone had made one using a zipper and how well it worked. The zipper I have is one that dosen't lock and am wondering if it will stay closed while tossing and turning sleeping during the nite.

I used a zipper on my HH clone. It has worked well so far. I used the zipper from a cheap $10 sleeping bag from Target.

I'm currently making a HH Clone. I'll be using velcro on 1 side and a zipper (like HC4u mentioned) for the other side. The zipper will be on the same side as my head because I believe it will be easier to open and close to access stuff on the ground than the velcro. I finished the hammock body last night and took a few pics. As soon as I can download them from the camera I'll post them.

You can order a "build your own" or a stock zipper from Quest Outfitters. They're not that expensive. I think my bug bivvy's 96" #5 coil zipper with two reversable zipper pulls was just a little over 5 dollars. I put the pulls on myself, not hard at all.

    Just an fyi.

Thanks, I may check into those for future hammocks. Right now I'm just going to rob them from a couple $10 fleece bags I have that don't get used anymore. I may even try to convert the zipperless fleece bags to UQ and top quilts for warmer weather.

I just bought one of those fleece bags at Target last night with plans to do the same thing. I have no use for the zipper if anybody wants it, they can have it.

That's what I put on mine. I cut mine to 6 feet. The 8 foot length was just so long.
