When we refer to a ridgeline here most of the time it is not an actual line, but the fold of a taut tarp, which sometimes coincides with the seam but not always. If the tarp has rings or grosgrain loops at the center of the shorter sides (assuming a rectangular or cat cut tarp) you can tie lines to those and hang the tarp without the rope running the length of the ridgeline. The tarp shouldn't rest on the hammock ridgeline unless you want it there to keep the interior of the hammock warm. You should be able to tie off to the trees with the guy lines below the tree straps and get a nice distance between the top of the bugnet and the tarp.
