One stretches, one degrades in the sun, one is stronger, one is cheaper, which is better?
To tell the truth, I don't know exactly what I'm using for my supports. I bought it at an outdoor store in the mountain climbing gear dept. several years ago (1" webbing that is).
When the time comes, like soon, should I opt for poly or nylon?
Polypro 1" = (?) 600 lbs, $0.20 per foot (http://www.beaconfabric.com)
Nylon 1" = (?) >3,000 lbs, $0.30 per foot
It's all a matter of what's most important to you. I'm going to be using polyester straps that were on ratcheting tie-downs from a local hardware bargain type place. HC uses the same thing and has had good results with it. I WAS using ENO SlapStrap Pro's, but found that they stretch wayyyyyyyyy too much for my liking. I wouldn't trust something with a 600 lbs breaking strength. I like the weakest link in my system to be at least 1000-1200lbs.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

Another vote for polyester straps here. Far less stretch than PolyPro

i just found there is one in lilburn,(harbor frt) ga so i think i will make a trip there, but it does not metion breaking strengh, just working load? help? i called and noone can give me breaking strengh.

The Harbor Freight polyester strap are rated at 1200lbs breaking strength. There is a pic on post #7 in the thread I linked to that shows the package.

agreed, i have been using this same strap and ZERO stretch. i even hung about 300lbs overnight during rain to see if i could get it to stretch and nothing, not even a 1mm difference. feels super heavy duty since it is a bit stiffer than the nylon and i have had no bad experiences with it yet.
i just picked up the straps at harbor frt. the package says breaking strengh is 1500lbs. will that work?(am on the hefty side)
also, how do i remove the ratchet part, i got an idea but am not sure.
