    Snakeskins or bag?

I just finished a blackcat tarp with sil from ray jardine. What are your preferred methods of storage? Noseeum snake skins or a sil bag or other method. Thanks for your comments. Cheers

It's strictly a matter of personal preference. Personally, I'm a stuff sack guy, but that's just me. Make both and see which works out best for you.

I have the snake skins and love them. That and a continuous ridgeline have simplified my setup and made to 2x as fast to put up.

I like snakeskins. Makes setting up in wind a bit easier and they are convenient for keeping the tarp up and out of the way in nicer weather.

Any preference on snakeskin material? I think mesh is nice cause it would let the tarp breath a little if wet. Anyone with real world experience?

The primary function of the tarp is to keep the hammock dry. Use silnylon snakeskins to store and maintain a dry hammock. Use a mesh snakeskin or bag to allow moisture to seep away from the tarp (carried outside your pack).

I have a ray jardine pack I made and it has big mesh pockets on the out side where I could pj the tarp when wet. I just don't know if in the real world it will really dry that much wadded in snake skins.

I plan on doing the same with mesh sleeves made by Gargoyle. It seems more care will be needed with mesh then with the regular SS, but they are light and I'm hoping the tarp will dry out a little if needed. I like the pockets on the end to put the RL into. Be taking pics of everything soon Washinton here we come!
