Aside from Poncho Liners, what other household-type items are commonly used for making underquilts? I'm thinking comforters or a cheap sleeping bag.

I recently adapted a cut in half LLBean adolescent size sleeping bag that I got from Goodwill. It works very well. $5 investmentent

I was at Goodwill on Sunday and saw a sleeping back about like what you just described, and it's what got me to thinking about it.
Also, there's no excuse 4 pore speeling

Lots of folks have done the cheap sleeping bag conversion, including me. Works well.
Kayt does a great demonstration of how to.

+1 on the sleeping bag option..
Just did one yesterday.
Knotted up the four corners, larkshead, then run the line up to the straps & some tautline hitches.
After that I experimented with some lines up to the ridgeline to get a decent fit before cutting the paracord.
Now to watch the video (thx), see if i can learn any new tricks.

I'm working on the sleeping bag option too...hittin up the thrift stores this weekend...
All I did was add grosgrain loops to the ends and run paracord through them. Attached to hammock suspension with shock cord. I did cannibalize the zipper for my future bug net. Test run on the UQ was very comfy...warm, but not too warm. I'll be using it at the hang this weekend.

You had to ask . . . Well how about several layers of the foam wrap that protects new TVs?!? Worked for me, see this thread: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=60288
