Youngblood's tarptent is a rectangle with tie-outs and velcro to shape it. JRB's tarptent is separate pieces of material sewn into the shape of a barn...4 walls and a roof. Although they do look similar when pitched.

Close, actually the model at TD has six walls, a roof, no seeum end vents and split beaks for maximum flexibility and weather protection....

And yes the sides can be rolled up and secured to create simple tarp vision lines if desired on one or both sides....

Further, you can secure in on a hill with up to a 1:4 slope.

Have you thought about attaching the no seeum netting so that you only have to undo one side to get into it?

JRB has 2 models. the other one (that they didn't have displayed at trail days) is a diamond shape.

but i doubt the people at eureka would be concerned. there are tons of tents that look like another.

Just saw this over on the Yahoo hammock forum:

    straight spine hammock

    In looking at the

    JRB hammock

I can finally see how theirs works and how the cat cuts are made. Interesting idea. Got some 1.1 oz DWR ripstop that I may experiment with.

    Pan and/or Smee,

Any update on the progress of your new hammock and 8x8 tarp tent?

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but is there any update on the progress of the new JRB items, in particular the 8x8 tarp tent?
