Totally don't need an umbilical cord to iTunes.

My iPhone doesn't sync at all anymore. I have a 16gig phone with 45gigs of music... IOS 5.0.1 + iTunes Match is a wonderful thing!!

I don't remember what they call it, but have you tried the hold both the home and power buttons at the same time until the device shuts down (all done with the buttons, don't touch the screen) and then power up again?

I would throw it in a ditch if it wouldn't run HF.

Nah, just send it to me before you throw it in a ditch. I'll find some use for it, maybe as a doorstop or paperweight or something.

Before committing the device to life-terminating disgrace in ditch, tell me the address to which I can send you a pre-paid mailing envelope.

I sponsor a home for failed electronic devices with confused and sometimes-incapable communications parts. I can promise it will spend the rest of its days on its own router, fed nothing but pure signal without hangups or confusing hand-shaking conditions.

And a Happy New Year to your local Post Master, too.

A miracle has occurred. This morning, more out of habit than expectation, I clicked on HF, and, LO! A screen full of orange and blue.

I hate my ISP ( Internet Sometimes Provider).
