i believe at least a couple others here have done part or all of it.
i'd like to myself some day. looks like a nice hike.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
I'll be on it the first week in October
I'm so pumped up. Just nailing down my menu and a few other small details. Getting my packweight down has been fun, but shrinking the volume has been harder.
I am still planning to hike the FHT later this year if I have enough vacation time left. I am looking at late September or early October. If I don't get to do it this fall I will try to hike it in the spring of next year.

ill be out there with a couple of friends for a week (Aug 13-17) I think we are starting near Burrells Ford. Does anyone know where a detailed trail guide is on line? (a free one) i am planning on going from there to the whitewater river or lake jocassee, then turning around, but i don't know the mileage...
I did the trail in the spring. I have the trail guide and the map, but had to buy both. A local outfitter had the guide, but i had to order the map from the FHT website. A beautiful trail. If anyone needs mileage, or elevation profiles, PM me. When I get home later today, I will look them up for ya. BD
Just Jeff made me do it
When I first started thinking about hiking the FHT a WB member emailed me elevation profiles, a basic trail map, mileage chart (turns, side trail junctions, etc). Send me your email and I will forward the info to you.
I have the official guide book and topo trail map. The map is all you really need, IMHO.
