My method has more to do with how I wrap up the hammock than anything else. Everything is in the snake skins so I take down the foot end first bundling the suspension cord. As everything gets folded together the trailing cord is for the head and that wraps around everything going in the sack. When it comes out of the sack the loose end is the head end. Start there and yada, yada, yada.

(I'll eventually paint, tape or tie something there but I'm low tech, lazy and cheap. Just being honest).

Out of curiousity; those of you who are NOT using WBBBs or other footbox hammocks, why do you care which is head or foot?

I changed out the draw cord on the head end to yellow zing it and kept the foot end the original black. Really easy to notice even in low light and I can feel the difference if I have to

I was having the same problem last summer as I experimented with my WBB. I have not field tested this yet but I put small zip tie on head end of bishop bag and on caribiner I have for head end. in theory this should give me visual and tactile clue as to which end is which.

I have a WBBB, too. I just put little piece of red tape at the foot end of the bag. Even when its dark, I can feel the tape and know its the foot.

All my hammocks and tarps have the head end with it's rings and the tail of the webbing along with the carabiner marked with white whiteout correction fluid dots. I got it at staples and a bottle is cheap and it goes a very long way also it dries quick and has high visabality on green and black nylon bags, straps and such.

I just sold one of my WBBBs but it had orange whoopie on head end and black on the foot. I also do this with my UQs. Orange S biner on the head and whatever it came with on foot.

I use snake skins, and at the foot end I put a small piece of orange flagging tape...easily seen at night, and works like a charm
