The plan was to distract you, have the tree get you out of the way and make off with the RR and SD.... Bwhaaahhaaaa....

And I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those darn kids!

I'm still not exactly sure how you managed to move as fast as you did, (think "The Matrix") but I'm glad you didn't get hurt....that would have probably messed up my entire weekend!

    Seriously though...... That was Awesome!

Here are the Crime Scene Photos:

It appears the Spindrift got caught on a small bush on the way down. IMO it likely took the brunt of both the impact of the tree and ths snag on the bush and saved the hammock. Weaseals ninja reflexes are what saved him.

This is the base of the tree after the fall:

At least he didn't do something seriously dangerous, like destroy a batch of Sarge's muffins.

Glad I was a long way away from both of those near death experiences.

Yeah, I can see how you'd mistake that tree for a health living one...what with all the branches, leaves and intact bark.

I'm glad your safe Space Weasel, that way the secret Santa gifts can still go out in your name.
Seriously though, very happy you are uninjured due to ninja, lightning speed.

The dead tree was about a foot away from the live tree he intended on using, he was talking to Caveman while hanging and Caveman saw his opportunity to distract him.

    Understood...just a bit a good-natured sarcasm.

I was hoping to have it for the official Tx hang in three weeks but now I am boned because I can't afford another one.
I did not have a camera with me but a couple of the guys took some pics so they will probably post them in the trip reports.
YIKES! Glad you are OK! You and GrannyPat should form a club!
